Bespoke Devon was created when founder Nicki Gray realised that many of the people she knew who owned holiday homes in Devon and Cornwall were having problems finding good management companies to look after their properties.
Rather than actively ‘managing’ the properties by thinking ahead and using good planning & scheduling, many of the companies were just haphazardly reacting to a multitude of client problems that could have been forseen and avoided.
The majority of owners live far away from their second homes and, whilst relying on them for income, some feel that managing the properties from afar will save them further costs.
In today’s internet age, rentals live and die by their reviews. If the property falls below the expectations of holiday tenants, a poor review of a property on Trip Advisor or Air B&B can lead to thousands of pounds of lost bookings.
Nicki Gray, Founder & Managing Director
Bespoke Devon owner and founder Nicki Gray was brought up in a family run business of 40 self-catering villas and apartments, 2 restaurants, a bar and a pool close to the beach in South East Corsica. So you could say that holiday property management is in her blood.
As well as a sound knowledge of the hospitality industry, Nicki set up and ran a successful holiday company in conjunction with a tour operator specialising in high-end holidays to Corsica.
She also worked as a restaurant consultant in central London before spending 10 years developing properties and project managing for other developers in South West London.
Nicki moved to Devon with her husband in 2005 and has since renovated two large properties.
Before starting Bespoke Devon in 2015, Nicki worked as the Executive PA to the Managing Director of the 5 Star Hotel, Bovey Castle, while bringing up her young son.
